Bertone Jaguar B99 - Back to The Past

Geneva Motor Show 2011, for his 99 years Bertone
chose to unveil this study Jaguar sedan, called B99
To get rid of some old-fashioned image, Jaguar has turned its back on retro lines. But Bertone does not hear it that way: the almost century-old bodybuilder has designed a study combining sedan tribute to the past and modernity.

The latest Jaguar shocked more than a fan of the brand. No more retro look and conservatism, place resolutely modern lines.
To the point that some have shouted to the loss of identity. But this radical change of style was also able attract new customers. With B99 concept, presented at the next Geneva Motor Show and designed for its 99 years, the Italian coachbuilder Bertone could reconcile these two opposite poles. Profile, this study suggests irreparably older generations of XJ limousine, produced from 1968 to 2009. A hood and trunk lid long and flat glass surfaces and simple sides, a cat raised proudly in front: the similarities are too numerous to be accidental. The Alfa Romeo Pandion concept presented in Geneva in 2010 by Bertone showed much more futuristic.

Yet, all is not completely paid in traditionalism. The headlights and taillights ultra-thin diodes, almost symmetrical, are much more contemporary, while the grille evokes the current XF and XJ. The mechanical hybrid aluminum body and are also in the air. While the format of this sedan is unusual for the brand with its 4.50 m, the B99 is shorter than the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C-Class and Audi A4. It thus serves as a call up to Jaguar, at a time when the manufacturer reflects the replacement of its unloved X-Type. Its 1.95 m wide and 1.35 m high are standard remote hand segment family. They give some sportiness to the study of four-door, which is also available as racing version designed for the GT2 class in Geneva.
