Book the most sophisticated to the most muscular engine chassis? It was so far the bias of the Beetle in its Coupe versions. But the retro Volkswagen decided to extend its multi-link rear suspension across the range.

Despite its crisp boils, the new Beetle has not always been able to soften us.
Our tester Christophe Congrega even strongly criticized the chassis of its TSI 160 version, both uncomfortable and moderately effective. Gaps that the ladybird is now working to correct, through a discrete evolution. Indeed she traded her rear torsion beam against a multilink train. A more sophisticated solution that Volkswagen was originally reserved for the powerful 2.0 TSI 200 hp and convertible. Now even 105 1.6 TDI and 1.2 TSI 150 will benefit, which should reduce the vibrations at low speed ... if the wheels to prevent excessive dimensions.

However, the Beetle the opportunity to inflate prices it now starts with € 17,290 TSI 105 instead of € 16,990. Diesel 1.6 TDI 105 calls for its part a minimum of € 20,390 instead of € 20,090. As for the 2.0 TSI, although it is not impacted by this change of frame, it climbs to € 28,500 to € 29,120. But I could not cry foul because it is the only one to benefit from changing engine bringing its power from 200 to 210 hp, as the previous generation Golf GTI. A change which also includes the recently released Cabriolet, newly marketed and has a multi-link rear suspension from the start.

BeetleThe brand new 2013 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible debuted today at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show but we got to drive it before it broke cover along the ocean in California. The new Beetle Convertible carries on a decades long tradition of topless motoring and this newest Beetle plays on the VW Beetles reputation with three special addition cars that include a 50's 60's and 70's theme. Check out this first drive video review as we bring you the new car in all of its editions from the sunny beaches of Southern California.
